Perth Friday 29 May 2020 – Crown Perth (Crown) will commence a staged re-opening of its restaurants in line with the West Australian government’s further easing of restrictions, announced today by Western Australian Premier Mark McGowan. Among those to open on Saturday 6 June will be some of Crown’s most famous and popular restaurants and eateries, including Nobu, The Merrywell, TWR, Bistro Guillaume, Silks and Modo Mio.

The following measures will be in place when each of Crown’s restaurants re-open, aimed at promoting the safety of our visitors and employees:

Physical Distancing: Guests and employees will be required to comply with physical distancing measures while on property, all of which will be in accordance with government mandated requirements, which include venue capacity limits (including density limits) and spacing between tables.

Cleaning Protocols: High frequency cleaning will be implemented across all areas of the entertainment complex with an emphasis on high contact surfaces and frequently used areas. This will include comprehensive cleaning of all tables and chairs between each seating.

Hand Hygiene: It will be compulsory for guests to use hand sanitiser upon entry to restaurants. Employees will be required to wash their hands or use hand sanitiser at frequent intervals and hand sanitisation will be placed across the resort.

Contact Register Requirement: In line with government requirements, each venue will maintain attendance records of guests for the purposes of contact tracing.

A COVID-19 Response Manager has been appointed by Crown Perth who will oversee Crown’s plans and implementation of these measures across the complex, supported by a COVID-19 Operations Team. Training for all staff will be increased, with all employees required to complete the AHA Hospitality & Tourism COVID-19 Hygiene Course and Crown specific training prior to recommencing work.

Crown Resorts Chief Executive Officer Australian Resorts, Barry Felstead said: “COVID-19 has delivered incredible challenges for many in the Western Australian tourism and hospitality industries and for our employees who have been incredibly patient during this time. We are grateful for the swift and effective response by the Western Australian government in the handling of this pandemic, which has enabled us to be in a position today when we can announce some of our restaurants and bars are re-opening. We are excited to be able to bring back some of Perth’s most loved restaurants, and to do so with stringent safety measures in place. We look forward to welcoming Perth back to Crown.”

Australia’s largest single site employer announces 14 days of paid special leave for employees facing COVID-19 challenges
Show Details

Australia, Tuesday 17 March 2020 – Crown today announced it will provide an additional 14 days of paid leave for any of its employees – whether full-time, part-time or casual – who are affected by coronavirus (COVID-19).

The additional leave is available to all employees who either contract coronavirus (COVID-19), or who have come into close contact with a confirmed case. In addition, the leave will also be available to employees who are providing care to a member of their family as a consequence of coronavirus – supplementing existing carer’s leave policy.

Crown Resorts CEO Ken Barton says Crown will support its workforce as well as promote good public health outcomes.

“We are Australia’s largest single site private sector employer and with that comes a responsibility to our workforce and the general community. We hope that this leave entitlement helps alleviate some of the anxiety we know our employees, as well as many Australians, are naturally feeling right now. This policy will help ease a lot of that uncertainty at a time when our employees need to be wholly focused on their health, the health of their families, and the health of the broader community,” says Barton.

Crown’s paid special leave policy applies to all employees, regardless of whether they are full-time, part-time or casual, facing any of the below situations:

  • The employee contracts coronavirus (COVID-19); or
  • The employee is required to self–isolate for 14 days following returning from overseas after midnight 15 March 2020; or
  • The employee has been directed by Crown to self-isolate; or
  • The employee has been in close contact with a confirmed case of coronavirus (COVID-19); or
  • The employee is required to provide care to a member of their family as a consequence of coronavirus (COVID-19).
In addition to its 14 days of paid leave, Crown is offering its employees 24/7 confidential counselling for them and their family free of charge.

Crown's Melbourne and Perth resorts are two of Australia’s most important tourism assets, employing over 18,500 people, attracting over 32 million visitors annually and contributing up to $4.4 billion every year to the Australian economy.

This is in addition to the $1 million pledged by the Packer Family Foundation to the Rural Fire Service of New South Wales following the outbreak of the fires in November.
The distribution of the $5 million is as follows;
NSW Rural Fire Service (November 14, 2019) $1,000,000
Victorian Country Fire Authority (CFA) $1,000,000
Western Australia Bush Fire Brigade (BFB) $500,000
Australian Red Cross $500,000
Victorian Government fund in conjunction with Bendigo Bank and the Salvation Army $1,000,000
Wildlife Information, Rescue and Education Service (WIRES), Zoos Victoria * $1,000,000

*Other Victorian and national accredited wildlife organisations to be included.
Packer Family Foundation Founder James Packer said;

"Australians are digging deep to support each other in these tough times, it's truly inspiring.  My family and Crown are eager to do more and the best way we can help, is to significantly increase our donation.
We hope these funds play a small part in helping our firefighters, and easing the suffering of people who have lost their homes and the poor wildlife caught up in the blaze. We just want to do our bit."

Chair of the Crown Resorts Foundation The Hon Helen Coonan said;

"On behalf of the Crown Resorts Foundation, we are pleased to be able to announce the Foundation will be donating together with the Packer Family Foundation $5 million to support the firefighting effort and recovery.
This has been and continues to be a tragic event and we are incredibly thankful for the hard work and sacrifice of our nation's firefighters, emergency services and charitable organisations. We encourage all Australians to give generously to assist those that have lost their homes and livelihoods, and to support our wildlife and firefighters risking their lives in the field."

Packer Family Foundation Chairperson Gretel Packer said;

"Just like every Australian, we are so grateful to the extraordinary men and women who are fighting these fires. Their courage and heroism are breath-taking and inspiring; and the damage done to people, communities, animals and our wonderful country in the wake of these infernos is utterly heartbreaking.
Our donation will be directed to firefighters, and those caring for affected communities and wildlife. This crisis is far greater than any one contribution but, like so many others, we wanted to do what we could to support everyone facing these fires."

Both Foundations have confirmed that these donations will be paid in full to the nominated organisations this week.

You Am I performing songs from This Is Spinal Tap at Crown Theatre on Sunday 11 November.
Show Details

PERTH, 17 September 2018 – Australian alternative rock band known as the ‘kings of swagger’, You Am I, are bringing their show ‘The Majesty of Tap’ to Crown Theatre for a special one night show on Sunday 11 November.
Paying tribute to the popular mockumentary, This is Spinal Tap, and the fictitious band from the movie, Spinal Tap, the show concept has been described as a clever twist that is both bizarre and unexpected.
The legendary tunes from This is Spinal Tap have rarely been performed outside the mockumentary, so You Am I have decided to do just that. Renowned for writing the best Australian rock songs of the 90’s, the band - consisting of Tim Rogers, Davey Lane, Andy Kent and Russell Hopkinson - promise to deliver fans the sounds and smells of Tap.
“You Am I plays Spinal Tap is an outrageous, ear-splitting, hilarious, politically incorrect, great night out and a fanboy’s delight” – The Advertiser, Adelaide.
“After all these years, we are throwing down the gauntlet and having one big Spinal Tap moment,
 “We love the songs of Tap, they speak of the mighty, meaty and manky elements of the Majesty Of Rock,” said You Am I.
With 12 records, three number one’s, nine ARIA’s, 32 nominations and over 2,000 shows all over the globe, don’t miss out on your chance to get tickets!
